In Patrio, The Ten Commandments of Urban Sustainability by TreeArt

Just when the lands and forests of Friuli Venezia Giulia are unfortunately the protagonists of well-known drought phenomena and episodes of fire, the third edition of TreeArt is a cycle in Putrio, the festival that brings together science, culture and art in the name of sustainability and protection of biodiversity. Organized by the municipality of Putrio with input from the region – under the scientific guidance of Pietro Maroy and the artistic care of START Cultura – the festival continues to bring together artists, scientists and publishers around the theme of “Urban Jungle” all Sunday.

More trees are needed in our cities to meet the challenges of climate change and increase urban biodiversity: this is the model festival that opened during the inauguration by Patrio Mayor Eliano Bassi, Culture Adviser Patrizia Menin and moderated by radio presenter and author Massimo Siri – publicly presented “The Ten Commandments of Urban Sustainability by TreeArt” , the result of working groups that included experts, technicians, stakeholders, citizens and even the many children of Putrio.

Among other things, in Putrio’s Ten Commandments, the need to engage citizens, with a community pact to nurture urban green spaces, and to create links from the center to the suburbs with green arteries to restore degraded areas, emerges. The ultimate goal of the Ten Commandments, is to include Patrio in the Tree City of the World by 2024. The grand finale of the festival is tomorrow, Sunday, July 31. It will still be possible throughout the day to visit the exhibition Naturographies by Tuscan artist Roberto Ghezzi at the Lapidarium of Villa di Toppo Florio, which will remain open on weekends until September 11.

Ghazzi’s research is the placement of canvases in natural settings where atmospheric factors and animal and plant organisms act, which prints exquisite physical backgrounds on the canvas that testify to the presence of unseen natural micro-worlds in the works. At 7.00pm, “The Rhythm & Blues Band” will take to the stage set up in the park for a concert that traces the classic songs of the greatest R&B singers: from Otis Redding to Wilson Pickett, Aretha Franklin and many more. .
