In the starting line, the third edition of the TreeArt Festival to talk about science and art

Fvg – Culture, art and scientific publishing on sustainability issues at the heart of the TreeArt Festival, scheduled at the Buttrio at the Residence, at the Botanical Garden and at the lapidarium of Villa di Toppo Florio, between 28 and 31 July, with a preview entirely dedicated to youngsters scheduled for Sunday 24 July.

In the presence of Patrio Mayor Eliano Passi, Member of the Municipal Council for Culture Patrizia Menin, Scientific Director Pietro Maro and Elena Cantori of Curator and Regional Adviser for Culture Tiziana Ghibli were introduced this morning during a press conference – Treeart which this year once again puts science and art in dialogue at the service of nature with artists and scientists and promoters.

With a rich proposal of discussions, meetings and performances, but also experiential outdoor moments, art exhibitions and concerts, the theme of this edition of the festival is “Urban Forest”, a discussion opportunity to dream and plan together for the city of tomorrow. The quality, health, and well-being of human life strongly depend on how our cities develop in the near future: More trees – including green walkways, parks, and vertical green spaces in buildings – are needed to meet the challenges of climate change and pollution and improve urban resilience.

Sunday 24 July at 6.00 pm – when the Villa di Topo Florio park will host the itinerant and experiential event for children from 4 years old “Alberi Maestri Kids”, organized in collaboration with the regional theater organization – on the first day of the festival, Thursday 28 July, there will be dedicated entirely to develop a series of participatory workbenches, preceded by the intervention of Professor Francesco Ferini, Professor of Tree Cultures at the University of Florence. Employees of public bodies, businesses and citizens are called upon to discuss three thematic areas particularly relevant to the theme of the urban forest: urban planning and sustainable management of ornamental trees, nurturing of vertical green spaces and biodiversity in cities, and the right connection compared to the trees that need to be cut down. The experience was enriched with a table dedicated to the little ones, “The Green City I Love”. In addition to the participation of industry experts, the works are open to all interested citizens (registration at www.treeartfestival.it).

The task of pulling the rows of work tables will be on the shoulders of Massimo Siri, well-known radio presenter, the historical voice of the cult program Rai2 Radio, on Friday 29 July, starting at 5:30 pm, the moment of the opening of the festival. LarvaWriter, Documentary Film Maker, Author. Waiting for some kind of “Patrio Pact” that will be able to lay the foundations for the design of “Cities of Tomorrow”. The long opening evening will be enriched by two important artistic events, starting with the dance performance “Summer”, signed by Compagnia Arearea, and taken from their show “Four Seasons”. The show will follow a dialogue between Massimo Siri and artist Roberto Gazi, protagonist of the permanent work created for TreeArt “Innesti” – which will enrich the open-air Museum of Contemporary Art growing in Patrio Park – and the personal exhibition Naturographies, held in the villa’s suggestive Lapidarium. The exhibition will be open until July 31 daily from 10.00 to 20.00 and will remain open on weekends until September 11.

In his book Naturographies, Ghezzi unusually puts man and nature in dialogue, and his research consists in placing canvases in natural settings on which atmospheric factors, animals, and plants act. The end result is gorgeous physical backgrounds that bear witness to the presence of unseen natural micro-worlds in the works. The artist – who has been the protagonist of many art residencies as well as in Italy, even in such remote places on the planet as Alaska, Iceland, South Africa, Norway, Tunisia, Patagonia and, only in recent weeks, Greenland – will be in TreeArt with his solo show “Naturografie” in fact, and author Permanent environmental installation locator In the grounds of the Villa di Toppo Florio garden, “Innesti”. A series of white panels will be planted perpendicular to the ground, like small trees: over time, the installation will recreate an ethereal and dramatic contemporary landscape. From this installation, within a year, the artist would take one canvas that would become the permanent work of the open-air museum.
