VOX breaks agreements with PP in the Balearic Islands

Party leaderfar right FoxSantiago Abascal announced that the party would withdraw its support for him. He made the announcement in an appearance without questions after a meeting of the executive committee in which he confirmed that Vox’s four regional vice-presidents – in the Balearic Islands, not in the executive – would resign and his party would move forward to exercise opposition to the autonomous regions where it has so far governed in coalition with the PP.

Abascal made a statement broadcast via video at the end of an executive committee meeting called urgently after the General Parliament approved the distribution of unaccompanied minor migrants to ease the burden on the Canary Islands.

According to the proposal of the executive, the autonomous regions governed by the PP and Vox in coalition will welcome a total of 110 migrant minors: Aragon, 20; Castile and León, 21; Valencian Community, 23; Extremadura, 30; and Murcia, 30. Les Balearic Islandswhere the People’s Party rules in a minority thanks to the far-right’s foreign support for an installation agreement, will welcome 10. The People’s Party believes that breaking agreements “to welcome between 10 and 30 minors seems like an excuse.”
