Tuesday, May 16th The university celebrates b International Day of Light to Department of Physics and Astronomyon the Sesto Fiorentino campus, to increase the initiative that combines scholarly quality, interest in publication and artistic value.
in 15:00 (via Giovanni Sansone, 1 – Sesto Fiorentino) Ceremony Opening by “Enlighten Mind 2”a new part of the exhibition dedicated to physics, the science of vision and optical illusions, which is enriched with two “treasures”: a color interference imaging plate created by Gabriel Lippmann (Nobel Prize for Physics 1908 for this invention), a testimonial to one of the first methods of color imaging, and a work of art by Marina ApolloniusOne of the pioneers of visual art, an art movement that exploits modern materials, abstraction, and imagery to create dynamic structures and spaces. This presence continues the happy marriage of art and science on an itinerary that already hosts works by Elisa Leonini and Gianni Sarconi.
The initiative was introduced by the Head of the Course in Optometry and Optometry Massimo Gorioli. International Day of Light is also scheduled for Workshops “From Liebmann Photography to Virtual Reality” In the Great Hall of the Department of Physics and Astronomy (9.30 am – via Giovanni Sansone, 1), in collaboration with the Italian Society of Physics and the Italian Society of Optics and Photonics.
