The mayor of Kyiv and the Russians did not abandon Kyiv
Russia still hopes to control the Ukrainian capital. This was stated by the mayor of Kyiv, Vitali Klitschko, at the World Economic Forum in Davos. “It is no secret that Russia’s priority is the occupation of the whole country and that the main goal of Moscow remains the capital of Ukraine, the heart of the country,” he said. Obviously, this is not a special military operation, as Russia claims. “It is a genocide of the Ukrainian people, with the killing of children, women and the elderly,” the mayor added.
Klitschko also said that the amount needed to rebuild the city is: “We calculated that it would take about 80 million euros to rebuild Kyiv.” This is money that will be used not just for infrastructure, “but to support our economy.” Lindako emphasized that as a result of the war, “more than 300 buildings and 200 apartments were destroyed. We have only recently begun to rebuild: our goal is to give one thing to every Ukrainian who remained without it, but also to help those who remained unemployed.” Then the mayor thanked “all Countries for the support they have shown so far to help with reconstruction, especially those who have welcomed refugees.”
“We are an important puzzle” of Russia’s colonial goals. “Moscow does not accept that we want to be part of Europe, it wants to occupy Ukraine and I believe that its goal will not stop at the borders,” Klitschko added in his speech. Klitschko repeated: “We are not only defending Ukraine, but all of you because we have the same values.” “This is the biggest war in Europe since the Second World War, and we have to stop it,” he added.
