Ten years ago, Cuban saxophonist and clarinetist Paquito D’Rivera set foot in Cuba for the first time. Now, a decade after that first visit, the Mostra opens its doors again to D’Rivera so that he can share his music with the Spanish public for the third time, and to be able to shake once again with a repertoire “one of the great references of Latin jazz in the world.”
Paquito de Rivera will not perform alone. He will be accompanied by the Cuban pianist Pepe Rivero. Another musician with a long career, he knows the Teatre Auditori Felip Pedrell well, having performed on several occasions; the last one with the tribute concert to the musicologist Felipe Pedrell, coinciding with the centenary of his death.
To complete the concert lineup, Ibiza singer Angela Cervantes will add her sensual and warm voice. A twinning of islands on both sides of the Atlantic, but also a mix of styles, as bolero and Latin jazz will lead the journey across the sea.
