Andorra la VellaThe Diagnostic Imaging Service at Nostra Senyora de Meritxell Hospital has put into operation a new computed tomography (CT) scanner using spectral technology. The new device reinforces the technological commitment of the Andorran Health Authority (SAAS).
The new equipment offers high benefits that mean improvements in care for users, including artificial intelligence software, which reduces radiation, increases clinical indicators and allows for more accurate diagnosis.
The new technique, called spectral detection, allows the analysis of information to know the molecular composition of the organism. Among other advantages, it perfectly identifies the areas of infarction in the brain with the consequent improvement in stroke code attention.
This modern device also facilitates complex cardiac examinations, thanks to ultra-fast scanners that result in optimal visualization of the coronary arteries and improved cardiac imaging studies.
Another important advantage is that, due to the increased sensitivity, the doses of iodinated contrast material given to patients in some procedures can be reduced by at least 30%.
By taking advantage of the structural modifications necessary to adapt the spaces to the new machines, a space has been designed that seeks to maximize comfort and tranquility to convey serenity and help reduce the anxiety that people undergoing these examinations often experience.
