This Thursday sees the premiere of The King of the Jungle, an adaptation of the novel Carme Planells by director Carles Molinet.
Premiering this Thursday is “Produccions de Ferro,” the film “The King of the Jungle,” adapted from the novel by Gabriel Galmis. The play was written by Carme Planels and directed by Carles Molinet. The characters are played by Joan Miquel Arteguis, Marga Lopez and Sara Sanchez. The production, which is part of the Literactua project, encourages the adaptation of literary works by Balearic authors for the stage.
“The work covers 12 hours on a Saturday evening in Manacor, where X-rays are taken of the artists, the upper class and the lower class,” explains actress Sarah. It's a biting satire of 1980s Manakorian society, but it could extend to any point on the planet. A tribute to the literary legacy of Galmis, who died at the age of 39. “King of the Jungle” can be seen this weekend in Palma, Manacor, Benisalem and Santanyi, and the following weekend in Santa Margalida, Port de Pollenca and Son Servera.
