The 7th edition of the International Pastry Fair in Sant Vicenç dels Horts awarded the 50 best pastry shops in Catalonia, with the Fava de Caucau accolade. This year, Manresa El Cigne and Joviat pastries became the best in central Catalonia and the best in the state, respectively.
Hoffmann Patisserie (Barcelona) won the Most Innovative Award, the Ferrer Award (Olot) for the product with the greatest historical value, and La Xicra (Terrassa) the Most Outstanding Product Award. The presentation of the Fava de Cacao – Sant Vicenç awards was one of the central events of the 2024 International Pastry Fair, which takes place until Sunday, with a program that brings together world-famous personalities of the pastry industry.
The Fava de Cacao – Sant Vicenç dels Horts Awards also awarded the Fava d'Or to the best pastry shops in each of the country's seven regional regions. The winners are: Hoffmann, from Barcelona (Barcelona and Regions); Labrador, from Vendrell (Penedes); El Cigne, from Manresa (Central Catalonia); Tournes, of Girona (Girona Provinces); Cale Jean, from Torridambara (Camp de Tarragona and Terres de l'Ebre); Tugues, from Lleida (Ponente) and Gilles, from Livia (Pyrenees). All of them, except for Central Catalonia, repeated the award, since last year they were also deserving of the cocoa bean in the respective regional areas. El Cigne took home the accolade of Most Outstanding Dessert last year.
The International Pastry Fair 2024 hosted the second edition of the Catalan Pastry School Competition, which was won by Joviat de Manresa. The competition was held on Friday in the central marquee in Mostra. The second ranked school was Dertosa High School (Tartosa), followed by Martí Dot High School (Sant Feliu de Llobregat) and INS Escola de Hoteleria i Turismo (Barcelona).
Other bakeries in District 7 earned honors as a top 50 bakery statewide. Among these: Grau Pastry Shop (Martorell), Ajer Pastry Shop (Moya), Bisex Pastry Shop (Artes), Targarona Pastry Shop (Igualada) and Gil Pastry Shop (Livia), which also has the distinction of being the best in the Pyrenees.
