Former Calella mayor (Maresme), former MP and former senator Montserrat Candini died on Friday at the age of 66 from cancer.
He was a member of CiU and PDeCAT and served as a memberMayor for 11 years (2011-2022). She came to the city council in 2003, initially as an opposition councillor, and from 2011, as mayor. She won every election she ran on the list.

Cancer forced her to step down as mayor and she was succeeded by Mark Buch, who announced her death in a city council statement and recalled her “fight and dedication” and that she was the first female mayor of the city.
The Calella City Council sent its condolences to the family and friends and declared Sunday a day of mourning, so all public events scheduled there were suspended.
