A minor had an accident while he was in the swimming pool at Parc de Valparaiso. The events took place on Friday, July 12, in the afternoon, within the municipal territory. But witnesses who witnessed the entire scene told the media that the victim was a boy between 6 and 8 years old, and that he was playing with his slightly older sister in the water when the incident happened. It appeared that the minor was about to drown. There were some tense moments as he was rescued from the water and tried to expel the water he swallowed. Fortunately, everything ended with a good scare.
“There were 10 lifeguards in the pool. They acted very quickly, well and professionally. Within a few seconds they were already performing the resuscitation manoeuvre. This saved his life,” explains A., a health worker by profession who was in the pool at the time of the accident.
The child regained consciousness there and was treated by EMS medical personnel who were activated after receiving warning from facility users and municipal grounds staff.
Swimming season until September 1
The Valparadés municipal swimming pool, along with the other three municipal swimming pools (La Morena, Sant Llorenç and Les Arenys), opened its swimming season on June 22. This year it will run until September 1. The city council has chosen to maintain the morning and afternoon shifts, with schedules from 10.30 am to 2.10 pm and from 3.30 pm to 7.10 pm. But in 2024, there are no season tickets or bonuses already included in the tickets. Tickets can be purchased in advance or at the pool’s ticket offices.
