Formula 1: Leclerc dominates Monte Carlo, another red third place for Sainz – Formula 1

Ferrari’s Charles Leclerc won the Formula 1 Monaco Grand Prix, taking the lead after the second start and maintaining his lead for the entire race, ahead of McLaren’s Oscar Piastri and Ferrari’s other Carlos Sainz. This is the Monaco driver’s first success on his track, as he started from first place twice before without finishing the race.

Lando Norris, in a McLaren, came in fourth place, ahead of George Russell’s Mercedes and Max Verstappen’s Red Bull, in sixth place at the finish line when he started. Lewis Hamilton (Mercedes), Yuki Tsunoda (RB), Alex Albon (Williams) and Pierre Gasly (Alpine) also scored points.

The race, also because many teams chose not to make pit stops, took place without any particular disturbances, and the final classification largely mirrored the start classification.

The only real emotion came from the stages following the first start, with the scary accident involving the Red Bull driver Sergio Perez and the Haas drivers Magnussen and Hülkenberg, who then did not take part in the race.

It appears from the pictures of the accident that the Magnussen Haas driver tried to pass Perez, who started from behind after a disappointing qualifying, but there was no space. Thus, the Mexican Red Bull car was violently thrown into the barriers, including Nico Hulkenberg’s Haas car. Only the solidity of the safety cell saved Perez, who immediately emerged from the remains of the car. Also on the first lap, there was also a collision between Alpine Ocon and Gasly at Portier, with the former’s car flying into the air, fortunately without overturning.

“There are no words to explain my joy. It is a very difficult race, as proven by the fact that I tried twice and could not win. This is the race that made me dream of becoming a pilot. In the last 15 laps of the race then I was not thinking about driving, but only In my father (who died in 2017, ed.), because this was our dream.” Thus, Charles Leclerc was affected and commented on the victory in Monaco.

“I drove a cautious race but in the last laps I was able to put a little pressure on, because Ferrari was perfect. I have to thank the team that gave me a great car and the fans that always supported me.”
