Moscow, 3 June. The war brings new attacks to Russia in the Belgorod region on the border with Ukraine. The shelling that took place in the past hours resulted in at least two dead and six wounded. Since Friday, there have been 7 casualties and at least 4 affected areas. “Settlements of the Chebykino metropolitan area are under fire from the Armed Forces of Ukraine,” Governor Vyacheslav Gladkov wrote in Telegram, explaining that the two civilians killed were in their yard at the time of the attack.
He added that among the wounded were two children, a 13-year-old boy who was shot in the shoulder, and an 11-year-old girl who was hit by shrapnel in the eye. The actions are attributed to the Freedom Corps of Russia and the Russian Volunteer Corps: made up of elements opposed to Vladimir Putin, the militia is not officially part of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. The Legion was coordinated by former deputy Ilya Ponomarev, and is part of an international legion, made up of volunteers and run by Ukrainian soldiers. The Russian Volunteer Corps (RDK) is made up mostly of Russian speakers, some of whom are ultranationalists.
Their incursions have a dual purpose: to force Russia to station troops on the borders, to drive it out of other regions, and to demoralize the enemy, who is forced to fight on its own land. “It’s not about dying like heroes,” Legion spokesman Aleksey Baranovskiy told Ukrainian television. “The goal is to distract the Russian army from other directions, these are operations to gain experience in the field and to show in Russia that resistance is possible and must be supported,” he said.
The relationship with Kiev, most notably what was written by the Washington Post, quoting American sources. The pro-Ukrainian fighters, who staged a cross-border raid last week, used four tactical weapons offered to Ukraine by the United States and Poland, at least two of which were captured by Russian forces, and rifles provided by Belgium and the Czech Republic, and at least two. The question inevitably arises as to the use of weapons provided to Kiev by non-compliant NATO and Kiev’s obligation to keep them safe. Three of the vehicles brought to Russia were supplied by the United States and the fourth by Poland. The raids were signed
