The Philadelphia 76ers have recalled guards Elliot Williams and Lorenzo Brown from the Delware 87ers of the NBA Developmental League.

Both Brown and Williams were signed by the Sixers on November 20, the same day that Kwame Brown and Darius Morris were cut from the squad.

Williams, 24, appeared in 18 games for Philadelphia, averaging 2.8 points and 1.8 rebounds in over ten minutes per contest. He was assigned to the 87ers on Sunday, January 5, playing in one game for the team and dropping 19 points, grabbing down 5 rebounds and dishing out 5 assists in almost 41 minutes.

On December 28 against the Phoenix Suns, Williams received his only career start with the Sixers. He played 27 minutes, recording 2 rebounds and picking up one steal, not registering a point.

Williams was drafted No. 22 overall by the Portland Trail Blazers in the 2010 draft, and played 24 games with the team in the 2011-2012 season. He was sidelined for the entire 2012-2013 season due to an Achilles injury before joining the Cleveland Cavaliers during training camp. On October 25, he was waived by the Cavs.

Brown appeared in 13 games for the Sixers, averaging 3.2 points and 1.8 rebounds in close to eleven minutes per contest. He was assigned to the 87ers on December 26, playing in 5 games and dropping 18 points, 8 assists and 5 rebounds in over 36 minutes per game.

The 23-year-old was drafted No. 52 overall by the Minnesota Timberwolves in last June’s draft, before being cut by the team on October 25.

The 76ers’ next game is on Monday night against the Minnesota Timberwolves.

The Philadelphia 76ers announced on Wednesday that the team has signed Elliot Williams and Lorenzo Brown. In related moves, the Sixers have waived Kwame Brown and Darius Morris.

Williams was the 22nd overall pick in the 2010 draft by the Portland Trail Blazers. The former Duke and Memphis guard appeared in 24 games for the Blazers in 2011, averaging 3.1 points while shooting 50 percent from the field. He missed all of last season due to an Achilles injury, before joining the Cleveland Cavaliers for training camp heading into this season. The Cavs, however, waived Williams.

The 6-5 Brown was the 52nd overall pick in the 2013 draft by the Minnesota Timberwolves. Yet, the former North Carolina State point guard was waived less than a month after signing his first professional contract with the Wolves.

The 24-year-old Williams is certainly a talented player who has the potential to help out an NBA team. At 6-5 with athleticism and smooth handles, he can play either guard position. One of his weaknesses is his shot.

The 23-year-old Brown has the size and quickness that NBA scouts look for in a point guard, but his jumper and decision-making often comes into question.
