Shots | San Antonio Air Force Base on high alert

(San Antonio) An Air Force base in San Antonio was cordoned off for about an hour Wednesday afternoon after a gunman opened fire near a gate, military officials said.


At 11:50 a.m., 802 Commander Lt. Col. Brian Loveless said he heard two shots outside the Lockland compound.e Security Forces Force. Investigators are trying to determine if the shooting report is true or false, he said.

It is not clear if anyone saw the gunman or if more than one gunman was involved, he said.

“We are currently trying to investigate a few ways to make sure that the scenes actually took place in that scene. No injuries were reported, Loveless said.

The Lockland base is located on the southeast side of San Antonio and the Air Force does all of its basic exercises. “There are a lot of facilities on this site that are very important to the Air Force. I would like to exaggerate [à un signalement de coups de feu] Lieutenant Colonel announced.

The site issued a warning at noon, telling all staff at the Lockland Air Force base to hide. Authorities said the shooting took place west of the main site, east of Interstate 410 and near a shopping center.

The warning was removed an hour later, except for the “Valley Hi” door, near where the shots were allegedly fired.
