Back in February, Kevin Durant was given the nickname “Slim Reaper” which seemed very fitting but much to everyone’s chagrin, Durant himself was not a fan. Here was Durant’s thoughts on the nickname via CBS Sports:

“That name is what it is. It’s cool to have a nickname somebody else gave to you. It’s kind of weird if you make your own nickname up. But to have that out there, I guess, is cool. “I’m here to shine a bright light. I’m not here to be a guy of, I guess, death. We’ll see what happens with that, but I just like KD better. Everybody’s been loving the name. I think I’m the only one that really doesn’t like it too much.”

Shortly after the “Slim Reaper” hoopla, Durant in an interview with Grantland’s Bill Simmons tried to give himself his own nickname, “The Servant”:

“You can call me The Servant. I just like to serve everybody — my teammates, ushers at the game, fans… I know it’s kind of weird to make your own nicknames up but I like that one better.”

Unfortunately for Durant, it looks like the “Slim Reaper” is here to stay as on yesterday’s episode of “Jeopardy!” Teen Tournament, host Alex Trebek asked the contestants this question:

The question was under the “This Celebrity” category and was for $800. Here is the transcript via Game Show Kingdom:

“The Slim Reaper”, scored 54 for OKC in a ’14 NBA game (on 1/17 against Golden State).

Jeff: “Who is (Kevin) Durant?” $15,400

Sorry Kevin, it looks like even Alex Trebek is a fan of “Slim Reaper”.
