This is a really cool thing that Matt Walks made. It’s an info graphic that breaks down how the NBA’s leading scorers score. It splits it up into four different areas: free throws, mid-range, three-pointers, and points in the paint. Each player has a circle graph that breaks up into each section. You can toggle over each section and the percentage of points scored by the player in that area will pop up.
Here’s a sample of what Kevin Durant’s graph looks like. His biggest area is in the paint, where he scores 32.3 percent of his points. Mid-range shots, meanwhile, are his lowest area. He scores just 18.6 percent of his points from there.
If you go to Matt’s page, you can see the rest of the charts. He did one for Durant, LeBron James, Carmelo Anthony, Kevin Love and Steph Curry.
This is a really cool and simple way to see where the best guys get their buckets.
