This time next week, you won’t be able to fill out another ballot for the All-Star game. It’ll all be done. Finito. And all that will be left to determine who will be starting on February 16th when the East takes on the West in New Orleans is the tallying up of the millions of votes that have been casted over the last few months.
For guys like LeBron James, Kevin Durant, Dwyane Wade, Dwight Howard and Kobe Bryant, there’s nothing to worry about. Since day one of the season, they’ve known that something would have to go catastrophically wrong for them not to be handed a return flight to New Orleans by whoever pays the bills.
But for the ones who aren’t guaranteed a spot, a little creativity goes a long way. In the past, we’ve seen Chris Bosh, Devin Harris, Amar’e Stoudemire and Rudy Gay get in front of the camera to make fun, quirky campaigns to try and win over the hearts of the NBA fans. And this season, DeMarcus Cousins kicked off all the fun with his “One Fan At A Time” video and now, Ty Lawson has joined him with this funny, SportsCenter-like skit.
Man, it can’t be easy for Ty to play 35.3 minutes per game, only to get up early the next morning to work on the accounts, sell tickets, file paper work and take over the Nuggets’ social media accounts. Mad respect, Ty.
Oh, and those 17.9 points, 8.6 assists and 1.4 steals you average per game are pretty nice, too. I think that deserves at least one #Vote4Ty.
