Game of the Night: Portland Trail Blazers vs. Sacramento Kings

There are 12 games on the schedule tonight in the Association, but only one can be the Game of the Night. And that game is the Portland Trail Blazers vs. Sacramento Kings.

Coming off of a surprising loss to the Philadelphia 76ers, the Trail Blazers will be looking to get things back on track as they travel to Sacramento to meet the lowly Kings. The Kings, meanwhile, will be looking to stay above the Utah Jazz at the bottom of the Western Conference.

The two teams are at opposite ends of the Western Conference standings, but this still has the potential to be an exciting game. Both teams feature a number of talented players, such as LaMarcus Aldridge and Damian Lillard in Portland and DeMarcus Cousins and Rudy Gay (who, despite his reputation across the league, is certainly talented) in Sacramento.

While there is certainly blowout potential (the Kings have recently lost to both the 76ers and Bobcats), this could also be one of the games of the year. Both teams are going to score a lot of points, and the Kings have played well against top competition lately, defeating both the Heat and Rockets (and losing to the Spurs by just eight) in the recent weeks.

One lower-key matchup you should keep your eye on if you check out this game is the point guard duel between Lillard and Isaiah Thomas. Thomas may still be off the radar of many casual NBA fans, but he’s proved himself a capable starting point guard with his performance this year.

The Pick: Sacramento keeps it close, but Portland gets a roadkill. Blazers win 114-108.
