Pass of the Night: Chris Paul to Blake Griffin x2 (Video)

If you stayed up late last night, you witnessed one of the better games of the year, between the Los Angeles Clippers and Portland Trail Blazers.

Trying to bounce back from their Christmas Day defeat at the hands of the Golden State Warriors, the Clippers made the journey north to Portland for the finale of TNT’s doubleheader.

But despite a 34 point, 16 assist night from Chris Paul, and a 35 point, 11 rebound performance from Blake Griffin, the Clippers fell in overtime, 112-116.

The Blazers got strong performances from all five starters, but were lead by LaMarcus Aldridge, who scored 32 points and grabbed 11 rebounds as they kept their strong home record in tact.

Never failing to put on a show, however, Paul and Griffin combined for the Pass(es) of the Night, even in defeat.

The first brilliant pass from Paul came mid-way through the 2nd quarter. After fending off Wes Matthews on his own baseline, Paul took a few dribbles up the court and fired a full court pass right into the waiting hands of Griffin, who dunked it home for two.

Paul’s second pretty pass to Griffin came late in the 3rd quarter, with the Clippers down by five. Dribbling up the left hand side of the court, Paul got a screen from Griffin and continued going left. But after getting a bit inside the three-point line, he dropped a backwards bounce pass to the big man, who knocked down the long jumper.
