Pass of the Night: Dwyane Wade to LeBron James (Video)

Yesterday Miami Heat (who were not happy about it) traveled across the country to Los Angeles to take on the Lakers in the third of five games on Christmas Day.

The league, when scheduling the game, hoped it would be a match-up of Kobe Bryant, back from his achilles injury, versus LeBron James. Unfortunately for the NBA, injuries got in the way, as Kobe had to sit out after fracturing his lateral tibial plateau in his left knee. (Injuries derailing promising match-ups was a common theme on Christmas, as the Bulls-Nets and Thunder-Knicks meetings all suffered because of stars not playing.)

But even without Kobe, we still got a show – courtesy of LeBron James and Dwyane Wade. The duo combined for 42 points, 14 rebounds and 11 assists, as well as multiple alley-oops. One of these oops even garnered the award for Pass of the Night. (You may recognize this play, but instead of focusing on the dunk, in this post we are focusing on the pass from Wade.)

Late in the 2nd quarter, a loose ball got tipped out to LeBron, and he immediately threw it ahead to Wade and started sprinting up the court. Thanks to LeBron’s hustle, the two had a two-on-one fast break, and they worked it to perfection.

Wade spotted LeBron trailing a bit behind him, and scooped a pass off of the backboard. It bounded off the glass and into the waiting hand of LeBron, who slammed it home as he ducked out of the way of the rim.
