Matt Barnes is back to making headlines – just not the kind the Los Angeles Clippers hoped for after resigning the 33-year-old in June.
On Sunday night against the Minnesota Timberwolves, Barnes was ejected for committing a flagrant 2 foul against Kevin Love with 56.8 seconds remaining in the third quarter.
The league felt that Barnes failed to leave the court in a timely manner after he was booted from the game, thus penalizing him $25,000.
After league review, the foul was downgraded to a flagrant 1.
This is the second $25,000 fine that Barnes has received this season. Back in November, the league punished him for failing to leave the court in a timely manner and for using inappropriate language on his Twitter account following the ejection.
Barnes has been sidelined for much of the season with both a bruised thigh and a torn retina. Through 10 games, the 2002 second-round pick is averaging 6.3 points, 3.9 rebounds and 1.7 assists in just over 19 minutes per contest.
