Game of the Night: San Antonio Spurs vs. Los Angeles Clippers

The other seven games on the docket for tonight made it very easy to select the San Antonio Spurs vs. Los Angeles Clippers match-up as the Game of the Night.

In the first of three meeting on the year, the Spurs and Clippers meeting pits two of the Western Conference’s (and league’s) best teams against each other.

For the Clippers, it is a rough way to come back home after a long road trip. The Clippers haven’t played at home since they lost to the Indiana Pacers back on December 1. It wasn’t the best road trip either, as they went 4-3 and lost some very winnable games.

The Spurs, meanwhile, will be looking to keep pace with the Portland Trail Blazers – who won last night courtesy of a Damian Lillard buzzer beater. At 19-4, the Spurs are still one game behind the West-leading Blazers.

The key match-up tonight will be between the two point guards: Tony Parker and Chris Paul. For as good as Parker has been lately, Paul has been even better, scoring 38 points and handing out 12 assists in his last outing. If Parker can outplay Paul, the Spurs have a very good chance of winning.

The Pick: I think Paul and Parker will end up canceling each other out, and it will come down to the two team’s role players. I have the Clippers winning a close one, 99-96.
