With only two games on the schedule last night, it was slim pickings for Pass of the Night. Luckily, Damian Lillard came to our help with his pass to Joel Freeland.
Last night – as the finale of TNT’s doubleheader – the Houston Rockets traveled to the
Moda Center Rose Garden to take on the upstart Portland Trail Blazers. The Blazers were looking to become the first Western Conference team, and second team in the league, to reach 19 wins.
And thanks to a monster game form LaMarcus Aldridge, they did just that. Aldridge dropped 32 points and snatched 25 rebounds to lead the Blazers to a 111-103 victory. The win moved Portland to 19-4, and gave them a one game lead on both the San Antonio Spurs and Oklahoma City Thunder in the race for the best record in the West.
One of the few Blazers who did not have a good game last night, was second-year point guard Damian Lillard. The youngster shot just 1-10 and finished with 8 points. He did chip in 6 assists however, including the Pass of the Night.
Late in the 1st quarter, Lillard got the ball and quickly pushed it down the court. He didn’t hold on to it for very long, however, as he spotted Joel Freeland running up ahead of him. Just before half court, Lillard fired a chest pass right in between two Rockets defenders, hitting Freeland in stride for a layup.
