Ever since their 11 game win streak was snapped by the Oklahoma City Thunder a few weeks ago, the San Antonio Spurs haven’t been able to get another one going. Since then they’ve alternated wins and losses, beating the Orlando Magic, losing to the Houston Rockets, beating the Atlanta Hawks and losing to the Indiana Pacers.
Last night, the Spurs made their way north of the border to take on the Toronto Raptors. After falling behind by a large margin after the 1st quarter, the Spurs stormed back in the 2nd frame to take the lead going into halftime. Eventually, they continued the back and forth pattern, by taking home a 116-103 victory.
It was a classic Spurs win, as nearly everyone on the roster pitched in, lead by Manu Ginobili, Tony Parker and Tim Duncan. Ginobili came off the bench to lead the team in scoring with 16, as well as grabbing 5 rebounds and handing out 9 assists. Parker finished with 15 points and 6 assists of his own, and Duncan added 14 points and 7 rebounds.
One of Ginobili’s team high 9 assists was good enough to be named Pass of the Night; and it went to his old buddy, Tim Duncan.
Late in the 3rd quarter, Ginobili curled around a double screen, caught a pass and continued on his path into the paint. Drawing the defense, he spotted Duncan open underneath the basket and wrapped a beautiful one-handed pass to him through traffic.
