There are very valid reasons one could come up with to watch nearly every single NBA game, even when the schedule looks as bare as it does tonight. Understanding, however, that everyone reading this is most likely not an NBA junkie like myself, the point of Game of the Night is to preview what should be the most competitive and entertaining game on the schedule.

Tonight, that game is the Denver Nuggets vs. the Washington Wizards.

After starting out slow at 1-4, the Nuggets recently used a seven game win streak to get up over .500. Now at 12-8, the team sits in seventh in the Western Conference, still hanging on to a playoff spot.

Leading the way for the Nuggets this year has been their point guard, Ty Lawson, who’s averaging nearly 20 points and 8 assists a night. He recently injured his hamstring however, and did not play in the team’s last game on Saturday. He is officially listed as day-to-day.

As for the Washington Wizards, their looking to get back to .500 with a win tonight. 9-10 in the East, however, is good enough for the sixth spot, which is where the Wizards currently sit.

Tonight will be the second game for their most recent 1st round pick, Otto Porter. After injuring his hip in the preseason, Porter returned in the team’s last game, playing 14 minutes in a loss to the Bucks.

The Pick: Hopefully Lawson will be able to go, because that will make this match-up a lot more interesting. Lawson and John Wall are two of the league’s fastest point guards and both have been having good years. I think Wall has a big night to lead the Wizards to a 103-95 win.
