The Dallas Mavericks announced on Saturday that the team assigned rookie Ricky Ledo to the Texas Legends of the NBA Developmental League.
The 21-year-old made his D-League debut with the Legends that evening, dropping 19 points on 6-of-11 shooting and adding 5 rebounds, 3 assists and 2 steals in the team’s 111-106 victory over the Tulsa 66ers.
The swingman appeared in 6 games with the Mavs, averaging 1.2 points in 2.6 minutes.
Dallas selected Ledo with the 43rd overall pick in June’s draft. While attending Providence in his lone college season, Ledo did not play basketball for the team because he was ruled academically ineligible by the NCAA.
The D-League might turn out to be a great experience for Ledo. He will have the opportunity to play extended minutes, something he was not seeing with the Mavs and the chance to more effectively work on his game. The team did not specify how long he will be the Legends, but until his re-assignment to the team upstairs Ledo will focus on maintaining Texas’s undefeated record, which currently stands at 4-0.
