Earlier tonight, Derrick Rose suffered a knee injury.

Those were words I hoped I’d never have to write again, but here we are, because the world is a cruel place.

Late in the 3rd quarter of tonight’s match-up with the Portland Trail Blazers, Rose made a cut to the basket but in the process, injured his right knee. He tore his left ACL back in 2012.

(To see video of the injury, check out this link.)

Early reports do not look good, as many are speculating it is a torn ACL. He was unable to put any weight on the leg and left the arena on crutches. He is scheduled to have an MRI tomorrow to find out the full extent of the injury.

Obviously everyone is hoping the best for Rose, but none of the signs or symptoms seem promising. Unsurprisingly, the mood was somber in the Bulls’ locker room following the games.

After sitting out a whole year because he didn’t feel ready, this is so heartbreaking for Rose, who was just starting to look more like his old self. Hopefully tomorrow we’ll wake up to good news.

Just another reason to ban knees, because knees are the worst.
