Pass of the Night: Michael Kidd-Gilchrist to Gerald Henderson (Video)

Well after four nights, the Steph Curry-Brandon Jennings streak is over. We needed Steph Curry to make the “Pass of the Night” to keep it going, but it was just not meant to be.

Instead, it was Gerald Henderson of the Charlotte Bobcats claiming the honor for the first time this season.

Last night, Henderson and the Bobcats made their way north to take on the Chicago Bulls at the United Center. Even with Al Jefferson missing multiple games, the Bobcats have looked pretty solid this year. They won’t be going to the playoffs, but they play hard and tend to keep things relatively close, even when they lose.

Such was the case last night, when they fell to the Bulls, 86-81. It was an ugly contest, with both teams shooting under 37% from the field. But while it was tough to watch overall, we still got a beautiful play, courtesy of Michael Kidd-Gilchrist and Gerald Henderson.

In the middle of the 2nd quarter, the Bobcats were taking the ball out underneath their own basket, with Michael Kidd-Gilchrist taking on the responsibility of being the in-bounder. Most of the time, teams in this situation just look to get the ball in. The Bobcats, however, were looking to score.

The play starts with Gerald Henderson coming across the paint to set a cross-screen. He then waits for a second, until a down-screen is set for him. He then curls of the screen towards the basket. MKG spots him breaking open, and lofts a perfect lob up to Henderson, who slams it home with authority.
