Not exactly the most exciting slate of games tonight in the Association. The Rockets should take care of the Celtics without too much trouble. In Miami, the Heat welcome the Hawks, which also doesn’t seem like it will be much of a contest. The Knicks are playing the Pistons in a “meh” match-up of two early season underachievers. In late action, out on the West coast, the Suns pay a visit to the Kings, which could be a sneaky good game.
But if you can only check out one game tonight, you should forget about those contests, and focus your attention on the “Game of the Night:” Minnesota Timberwolves vs. Washington Wizards.
Both teams were predicted by many to finally return to the postseason this year, but through the first weeks of this new season, only the Timberwolves look likely to achieve that goal.
At 7-4, the Wolves – thanks in large part to Kevin Love’s dominance – currently sit in a tie for 5th place in the Western Conference. The Wizards, meanwhile, have struggled mightily, and their 2-7 record is bad enough for a tie for last place in the East. Only the poor Milwaukee Bucks – plagued by injury problems – have been as bad.
Tonight, the Wizards welcome the Wolves to the nation’s capital and will be looking to snap their four-game losing streak.
The Pick: With Love, Ricky Rubio, John Wall and Bradley Beal on the court tonight, it has all the ingredients for an entertaining affair. I think Wall and company will put an end to their losing ways and get the job done, 98-93.
