Game of the Night: Detroit Pistons vs. Golden State Warriors

Nov 8, 2013; San Antonio, TX, USA; Golden State Warriors guard Klay Thompson (11) shoots against San Antonio Spurs guard Tony Parker (9) during the first half at AT

It’s a pretty barren NBA landscape on this mid-November Tuesday, with just four games set for tonight. The lack of games made picking tonight’s Game of the Night rather easy. Milwaukee vs. Miami could easily turn into a blowout. The only reason for watching New Orleans vs. Los Angeles Lakers is to see Anthony Davis. And while Washington vs. Dallas could be interesting, that match-up is never going to be a game of the night. Golden State vs. Detroit, however, now that is a game to see.

Both teams made big acquisitions in the offseason, with the Warriors adding Andre Iguodala and the Pistons picking up Josh Smith and Brandon Jennings. Later tonight, the two teams will meet for the first time this year.

After starting out on fire at 4-1, the Warriors have stumbled a bit, losing to both the San Antonio Spurs and Memphis Grizzlies in their last two outings. But both of those losses were on the road, in conclusion of a four game road trip. Going back home to Oracle Arena should help get things back on track.

The Pistons – who many picked as a team that could make the playoffs in the East this year – are also on a losing streak, after falling short in their last three tries. The meeting with Golden State is the second leg of the team’s four game West coast road trip.

The Pick: With Steph Curry, Andre Iguodala, Klay Thompson, Brandon Jennings, Josh Smith, Andre Drummond and Greg Monroe all on the court, there will be not shortage of excitement. With the Pistons having to come to Oracle on the second night of a West coast back-to-back, it should be a fairly easy win for the Warriors. They’ll take the victory 104-93.
