A breakout season last year saw him become a fan favorite – both in Milwaukee and across the league – and earned him a big extension. But the 2013-2014 campaign has not gotten off to a great start for the Milwaukee Bucks’ LARRY SANDERS!

To be more exact, it’s gotten off to a horrible start. Through the team’s first three games, SANDERS! was averaging under 3 points and 4 rebounds a game. Even more surprising was the fact that he hadn’t played more than 22 minutes in any game. For whatever reason, SANDERS! was not fitting in with new coach Larry Drew’s system.

Then, it was announced that SANDERS! would miss the Bucks’ game against the Cleveland Cavaliers last Wednesday. The official reason was a sore thumb, but there were rumors that he had been involved in an altercation at a nightclub. He also missed the game versus the Dallas Mavericks last Friday.

This evening, the news got worse, as the Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel announced that SANDERS! will undergo surgery on his thumb, and will be out for 6 weeks.

With SANDERS! now out for an extended period of time, and Ersan Ilyasova also still dealing with an injured ankle, the Bucks’ front court is now very thin.

It’s disappointing – especially after he received the big contract – to see SANDERS! involved in a bar fight. Hopefully this will just be a one time incident and SANDERS! can get back on the court and back into the hearts of fans across the country.
