Normally a Sunday slate of NBA games are pretty interesting, but with the number of games scheduled (4) the only game that is worth this title for tonight would be the Pelicans vs. Suns from Arizona. This game is about the surprising start for the Suns who sit at 4-2 and look to show a lot of promise with a young roster. The Pelicans are also off to a pretty decent start and if their last game proved anything, its that Anthony Davis is looking to have a stellar sophomore campaign this season. Davis destroyed the Lakers front line going for 32 points and pulling down 12 rebounds in the process. Now both of these teams played earlier this week in New Orleans, with the Suns pulling out the victory will keeping Davis in check for the most part. Eric Bledsoe went off in the 4th Quarter of Tuesday nights contest, scoring 25 total points and tallying 9 assists.
The Pelicans have to make some waves this season as ownership wants to have a winner on the court and starting with a winning streak here tonight would help in this case. As for Phoenix, the Suns are clearly in a rebuild while also trying to stay competitive in a tough Western Conference. A game like this one tonight could go one of two ways, it could be wildly entertaining or it could be a blowout in either direction. The more impressive part is the defense of both teams. Both teams are playing well on the end of the court. The thing to watch is which team will crack if the shots are not falling on the offensive end.
The Pick: I am going to go with the Suns here in this one. I know the Pelicans are the better team, but I like what the Suns have to offer with the addition of the game being at home. Bledsoe will need to have a similar game as he did on Tuesday night when these two teams played to have a chance to win. And I am also going to put more focus on Miles Plumlee. He is now on a team starting and his main responsibility tonight will be to make sure that Anthony Davis does not explode on offensive end and making him work on defense. Final score – 98-95 in a Suns victory.
