We’re nearly a week into the 2013-2014 NBA, which makes me wonder where time has gone and realise that I’ve barely left my couch all week. That’s not good. Anyway, last night marked our first Sunday of the regular season and it did not disappoint thanks in large part to Victor Oladipo, Kevin Love, Russell Westbrook and Andrea Bargnani. So without further ado, let’s take a look at the best and worst headlines of the night with the help of our good, old friend, Lion Face/Lemon Face. Let’s get it!
Lion Face: Victor Oladipo is in dunk contest-form
The day Victor Oladipo becomes a starter in the NBA will be a happy one. In 21 minutes off the bench against the Brooklyn Nets, he scored 19 points on 8-for-13 shooting, pulled down six rebounds, dished out four assists and grabbed two steals. He also had seven turnovers, but nobody will remember that because he casually did this in the fourth quarter:
Lemon Face: The Washington Wizards are winless
The Philadelphia 76ers are 3-0 and the Washington Wizards are one of two winless teams in the Eastern Conference. Those basketball gods work in mysterious ways.
Lion Face: Kevin Love can’t get enough of the Knicks
I don’t know what it is about the Knicks, but Kevin Love seems to really like playing against them.
'@kevinlove's last 4 games vs. NYK, including tonight. 2013-14 season: 34pts & 15rebs 2011-12: 32 & 21 2010-11: 33 & 15; 31 & 31

Lemon Face: Andrea Bargnani is not Blake Griffin
Good news: Andrea Bargnani put up some solid numbers in the scoring column last night. Bad news: He’s still the butt of all jokes.
Lion Face: Russell Westbrook is back!
He was supposed to miss the first four-to-six weeks of the season, but Russell Westbrook likes to defy the norm. Last night, he made his season debut in Thunder’s home opener and he looked like his old self, which Derrick Rose is probably jealous of. There was a little rust, but nothing that he won’t shake off with a few more games under his belt. Welcome back, Russ!
Lemon Face: Nick Young is no longer a starter
Swaggy P has lost his starting spot four games into new season and basketball twitter no longer has anything to talk about. This is sad.
Lion Face: Nick Young still oozes swag
Nick Young now has his sights on winning sixth man of the year, per Serena Winters. This guy is the definition of confidence. And optimism. And LOL.
Lemon Face: Jason Kidd’s coaching debut
After missing the first two games due to suspension, Jason Kidd made his coaching debut against the Orlando Magic, but it didn’t go so swimmingly. Fresh off a win against the Miami Heat, the Brooklyn Nets shot 38.2 percent from the floor, got out-rebounded by 12 and let a young, inexperienced Magic squad run all over them on Sunday night, losing by a final score of 107-86. #GrowingPains.
Lion Face: Brandon Jennings is back, too!
There’s a lot of pressure on Brandon Jennings to perform this season and last night, he looked up for the task – in 31 minutes off the bench, he put together an impressive, all-around stat-line of 14 points, four assists, four steals and three rebounds. He also did this, which was oh so sweet:
Lemon Face: League Pass free trial ends tomorrow
Time to break out that credit card, folks.
