Josh Smith Game Winner From Three (Video)

Throughout his career, fans in Atlanta, and across the league, have cringed at every three-pointer launched up by Josh Smith.

The lanky big man is one of the most talented players in the game, but too often gets away from what makes him so good. He floats outside, content with firing jumpers instead of getting into the paint.

With his move to Detroit to join the Pistons and their crowded front court, there has been some concern about spacing and Smith getting forced out of the paint. If the Pistons play Smith at the same time as Andre Drummond and Greg Monroe, that very well may be the case.

In the waning moments of tonight’s match-up against the Timberwolves, however, fans were shaking their heads in celebration, not dismay after Smith let a three ball fly.

With just over 3 seconds left in regulation, and the Pistons trailing by 2, Smith broke free and caught the inbounds pass from Kyle Singler on the right wing. Immediately, Smith fired away, and the shot bounced around the rim before falling through, giving the Pistons a 99-98 victory in their preseason finale.

For one night at least, a Josh Smith three-pointer made Pistons fans happy.
