ICYMI: Suggested Basketball Reading From Across the Web

We’re another day (just 55 to go!) closer to the start of the season, and we’ve got more great words to read about basketball. Here are today’s suggested basketball readings from across the web.

The Most Known Unknowns: By Zach Lowe: (@ZachLowe_NBA

It’s Tuesday, so that means we get another column from the master, Zach Lowe, over at Grantland. In this piece, Lowe took a look at Jan Vesely, Derrick Williams, Jimmer Fredette, Alec Burks, Enes Kanter and Bismack Biyombo, six young players whose teams will have a difficult decision coming up in deciding whether or not to keep them around.

“Blessed to bless,” Damen Bell-Holter provides inspiration for children around the world: By Kevin O’Connor (@Kevin__OConnor)

This is a pretty cool piece by Kevin O’Connor of Celtics Blog. Most people (myself included before reading this post) have probably never heard of Damen Bell-Holter, a young power forward out of Oral Roberts will be participating in training camp with the Boston Celtics. O’Connor details the inspirational story of how Bell-Holter made it out of poverty in Alaska to become a professional basketball player and give hope to other kids in similar situations to the one he grew up in.

Intellectual Theft: Jeff Hornacek: By Ian Levy (@hickoryhigh)

In the latest edition of Hoop Chalk’s summer series of looking at new head coaches, Ian Levy details the Phoenix Suns’ Jeff Hornacek. Levy looks at what Hornacek, who was previously an assistant with the Jazz, can take from his old job and apply to his new one.
