Cleveland Cavaliers Win The Draft Lottery, Will Have Number 1 Overall Pick

Just minutes ago, the NBA Draft Lottery was completed. Coming out with the Number 1 overall pick in this summer’s draft was the Cleveland Cavaliers.

The Cavaliers finished the 2012-2013 season with a 24-58 record, the third worst in the league. They had the third best odds with a 15.6% chance of getting the top pick.

It’s the second time in three years that the Cavaliers have the Number 1 overall pick. In 2011, they picked point guard Kyrie Irving.

The top three was rounded out by the Orlando Magic and Washington Wizards. The Magic had the best chance (25%) of winning the lottery. The Wizards, who had the eighth best odds, made a big jump up to number 3.

The rest of the top 5 was filled out by Charlotte (4th pick) and Phoenix (5th pick).

Picking 6th will be the newly renamed New Orleans Pelicans.

Sacramento, making their seventh straight lottery appearance, has the 7th overall pick, Detroit will pick 8th, Minnesota  9th, and Portland 10th.

The 76ers will have the 11th pick, the 12th pick will be made by the Oklahoma City Thunder, who got the pick from Toronto. Dallas has pick number 13 and Utah finishes out the lottery with the 14th overall pick.
